Amanda’s practice focuses on trademark and copyright prosecution, where she assists clients in securing and defending their intellectual property rights before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Copyright Office, trademark offices worldwide, and U.S. federal courts. Amanda is the co-author of Trademark Registration Practice and Copyright Registration Practice and The Practitioner's Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure, and guides clients through the complexities of trademark registration, prosecution, and defense strategies in both domestic and international jurisdictions.
Her practice also encompasses responding to office actions, conducting trademark clearance searches, managing global trademark portfolios, coordinating foreign counsel, and handling opposition and cancellation proceedings. Additionally, Amanda counsels clients on trademark and copyright infringement matters, providing strategic advice on enforcement options and developing comprehensive approaches to protect brand identity and creative works in an increasingly complex global marketplace. Amanda has been a guest speaker and instructor at local and national organizations; including the national MAGIC Marketplace fashion tradeshow, regarding intellectual property matters.
Amanda received her Bachelor of Science as an honors graduate from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce with a major in Management Information Systems and a minor in Marketing. Amanda is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law where she was the recipient of two fellowships. At UCLA, Amanda served as the Chief Articled Editor of the Pacific Basin Law Journal and judicial extern for the Honorable Gary L. Taylor, U.S. District Court of California, Central District, and created a program to intake asylum seekers for the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law.
Prior to attending law school at the UCLA School of Law, Amanda was a computer programmer and systems consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and an in-house systems analyst for Gannet, Co. At Andersen, Amanda developed distribution control systems for Fortune 500 companies, and while at Gannet, she installed and supported advertising systems for over fifty newspapers throughout the country.
