Tom is a Martindale Hubbell AV Preeminent Rated attorney, and his primary practice areas include real estate (with an emphasis on leasing, purchase and sale, ownership restructuring, property management, financing, and development), lending and commercial law (including advising institutional lenders, private money lenders, and venture capital groups), and business entity formation and structuring (including corporations, limited liability companies, and investment partnerships).
Tom also serves as general business and real estate counsel to a broad scope of investors, businesses, individuals, and companies (including the mobile home park, restaurant, commercial real estate and entertainment industries) located throughout the United States, and has taught courses in business and international law at the graduate level, and serves on the advisory boards to several businesses, and on the Board of Trustees for several educational institutions and private foundations.
Tom was the senior transactional partner with Cooksey, Toolen, Gage, Duffy & Woog in Costa Mesa, California, from 1999 to 2015, and was the Managing Attorney of a real estate and corporate law firm in Newport Beach, California, from 1986 to 1999, and is admitted to the California, Utah, and Texas State Bars; the U.S. District Court for the Central and Southern Districts of California, the District of Utah, and the U.S. Tax Court, and has his B.A., M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Utah and an L.L.M. in Taxation, from the University of Denver.
